Ten people were injured Thursday night when an argument escalated into gunfire outside a soul food restaurant in Miami Gardens, where rapper French Montana was reportedly filming a music video.

Witnesses said another rapper in the video, New Orleans rapper Rob49, was among the wounded, but police have not confirmed that, NBC 6 reported. There is no indication French Montana, a nationally known musician, was injured, but his status is not clear.

A police source told the Miami Herald that one victim is in critical condition. Four victims were airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center in Miami, and six transported themselves to hospitals, according to radio chatter heard by WSVN.

The gunfire resulted from an altercation that started elsewhere and ended at The Licking Miami Gardens, a soul food restaurant, police said. An anonymous law enforcement source told WSVN there was an unidentified third crime scene.

The video shoot had moved to The Licking from KFC, where someone had been robbed, according to another rapper named Ced Mogul who spoke to NBC 6.

Ced Mogul also told WSVN someone in the crowd watching the shoot was robbed of their watch, keys and wallet just before the shooting.

“[He asked to] call his mother and see if we can get spare car keys and make sure, you know, he’s OK, and then the gunshots went off,” said Mogul, “at least 13, 14, 15 gunshots. It was very rapid, it sounded like an assault rifle.”

Ced Mogul gave NBC 6 a video he said showed French Montana and Rob49 in the back of a car before the shooting.

Miami Gardens police responded to the scene after being alerted by a ShotSpotter gunshot detection system, Detective Diana Gourgue told NBC 6.

Police Chief Delma Noel-Pratt called it an “isolated incident” and said investigators are looking into reports of the music video shoot, the Miami Herald reported.

This was a breaking news story. The details were periodically updated as more information became available.
