Civil war coming says 54% of Trump voters, 40% of Biden voters

Most people who voted for then-President Donald Trump in 2020 believe a civil war is coming, a new poll showed last week.

According to a YouGov-Economist poll conducted in Aug. 2022 and announced Friday, 54 percent of Trump voters believe a civil war will break out in the United States within the next ten years.

Of the 54 percent, 21 percent said they think a civil war is “very likely” and 33 percent said they think a civil war is “somewhat likely.”

Among President Joe Biden supporters, 40 percent believe a civil war will take place within a decade — with 14 percent said civil war is “very likely” and 26 percent said civil war is “somewhat likely.”

The poll also showed that most Americans think political divisions and political violence will worsen in the coming years.

The survey results come as the Department of Justice’s latest investigation into Trump heats up. On Friday, the DOJ released the affidavit behind the search warrant FBI agents used to raid Trump’s home earlier this month. The affidavit was heavily redacted and, as a result, failed to clarify the DOJ’s justification for the raid.

If the DOJ decides to indict Trump as a result of the raid, South Carolina GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham predicted there will be “riots in the streets.”

“Most Republicans, including me, believe when it comes to Trump, there is no law. It’s all about getting him,” Graham said during an appearance on Fox News. “There is a double standard when it comes to Trump.”

“What happened with Hunter Biden is that the FBI weighed in to make sure the story didn’t break before the 2020 election. We now have whistleblowers at the FBI telling Sen. [Chuck] Grassley that they were told to slow down and back off Hunter Biden,” he continued. “And I’ll say this, if there is a prosecution of Donald Trump for mishandling classified information after the Clinton debacle … there will be riots in the street.”

As talks of civil war dominate social media platforms, Graham said he has “never been more worried about the law in politics” as he is right now.

“How can you tell a conservative Republican that the system works when it comes to President Trump? What happened in Crossfire Hurricane, it was a joke of an investigation. People lied and manipulated the evidence. Look at what happened to Hunter Biden. They gave him a complete pass, apparently. And social media outlets suppressed information that could have mattered,” Graham added.

“If they tried to prosecute President Trump for mishandling classified information after Hillary Clinton set up a server in her basement, there literally will be riots in the street,” he said. “I worry about the country.”
